How do you work?

How do you work? Not just materials and surfaces, but what is the average day at your drawing table like?

For me, work begins on the dining room table I’ve turned into an ad-hoc office. List of cartoon ideas and work to be done, a pad of bristol with many, many pilot pens and mechanical pencils. I need to have a cup of coffee (morning) or wine (afternoon) within reach as well as my mint-tobacco hookah pipe for rewarding puffs after I finish something. Listening to books on tape or NPR’s “This American Life” keeps my brain from going off on a thousand tangents. Music is distracting, but radio dramas oddly soothing. Like being read to.
