Our Spotlight artist discusses how he comes up with those portraits
My painting studio situation is fairly unique because I work in a public storefront
where there are many interesing distractions and interactions (I’m a freak magnet).
I also exhibit in the space and people like to see the work and see it being made so
its a great forum for exchanging ideas, meeting collectors and other artists.
Sometimes I cant get anything done but other times it inspires a new direction. I
always play music to paint by - rock, punk, psychadelic, classical, old jazz,
rockabilly, flamenco, swing (anything but hip-hop or techno basically) and I blast
it outside too, of course, to keep the neighbors pissed off.
