Blogomania | Where NOT to host your blog!
on April 28, 2006, 6 comments
In the past, I’ve made dozens of blog hosting recommendations. My apologies go out to those who ended up with Blogomania.
I’ve recently waited 2 weeks for an answer to a technical problem. Worse, I’ve been waiting over 3 months for an answer in regards to the excessive overbilling on my credit card.
Some things take time Blogomania, I know that. But I’ve been plenty patient!
If you’re hosting with Blogomania, I strongly encourage you to cancel your service before you have a problem and its too late. Take your business somewhere where they value it, not where they ignore and insult you with utter disregard.
Update: After 4 months of silence I’ve finally gotten a response from Blogomania. Amazingly they issued a partial refund. More amazing, they made no apologies.

Blogomania has become an utter nightmare. I received some random bill for two years of service and then they simultaneously decide to shut my site off….Did they do this to you? It’s horrifying as they don’t have any sense of customer service or technical support. This is the WORST host service I have ever, ever used.

Felicia.
They didn’t shut my site off, but the random billing came aplenty. Unfortunately it was all too late before I realized all the extra bills and they don’t respond to any communications from me to give me a refund. Anyway…sorry to hear that you have also had a nighmare with them. I have a feeling we are not the only ones being taken through the wash.

My god! I emailed them (thankfully my credit card expired so they inquired about a new one) and said that I believe I should receive a discount based on the horrifying technical support/customer service they’ve provided over the past year….we’ll see what happens. Cross your fingers.

I had the misfortune of hosting a couple sites with Blogomania. I have not received such poor customer service with any other company. Live and learn I guess.

Heh…I had the opposite problem with Blogomania. They stopped charging my card one month and never started again. After trying to contact them many times over the next few months I was finally told the billing person had broken her wrist or something and was behind. WTF? One person in charge of something like that and nobody filling in?
Anyway, after trying to pay them for about 9 months and never getting a straight answer back and my mail server being down at least once a day, i just got a new host, deleted all my stuff from their servers, and moved on. I saw no need to cancel my service because I was not paying anyway!
Terrible place to host. They seemed very nice in the beginning though.

I signed for the “less than $100/mo” special. Then I received a $29/mo upgrade. I did not want an upgrade. Last year the website cost me about $500. I have received less than 40 visits to my website during that same period. Someplace in the small print of “I agree” is the permission to treat my bank account as a blank check.
When Their procedures for cancelling the service require the credit card information to be updated.
