Bella Muse Prints

Alicia Peck of Bella Muse has a nice collection of prints inspired by “her love of color and passion for typography, textiles, antique illustrations, and book covers.” The editions are printed using the giclee printing process. All of the prints fit standard size frames and come in a variety of sizes and mats.

Graphic experiments by Gilles Tran

Paris-based graphic hobbyest Gilles Tran is doing some great stuff at his Oyonale.com site. I like his “Variations” experiments with the same objects but different renderings in particular.

Inspiration from COLOURlovers

colourlovers colour paletteOne book I can’t live without is Color Harmony For The Web, a wonderful reference that offers hundreds of color combinations organized by style and mood. For the longest time however, I’ve hoped for a similar color palette resource online so that I could get inspiration without having to drag a book along. Today I found some help.

Check out COLOURlovers! Here you can view, rate and review thousands of individual colours (6,000) & colour palettes (2,000). Best of all, you can always find out what colours are hot because the site is constantly being updated by a community of designers now 1300 strong.

The Pony Project

the pony project by hasbroHasbro toys has invited a group of talented women to transform oversized versions of this iconic toy into works of art. Each artist will receive an 18 inch tall blank My Little Pony figure. Using their creativity, the artists are being challenged to customize these figures from their own perspectives.

This creative challenge given to exceptional women in the fields of fashion, fine art, illustration, photgraphy and graffiti, will result in an exhibition set to debut in New York City’s Milk Gallery on October 21st 2005.

Getting Unstuck

oblique strategiesMany of you may be familar with Oblique Strategies, first published in 1975 by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt. According to Wikipedia:

Oblique Strategies is a set of cards containing a phrase or cryptic remark which can be used to break a deadlock or dilemma situation. They can be used as a pack, or by drawing a single card from the shuffled pack when a dilemma occurs in a working situation.

Well now you can get unstuck using a Widget for Mac Tiger OS. (more…)

Jean Helion :: Exhibit

Those hoping to resurrect the neglected reputation of the French painter Jean H??lion (1904-1987) have nothing to fear but H??lion himself. The artist’s preening, self-important personality leaps off the page in the catalog accompanying the meager survey of his 60-year career, now at the National Academy Museum.

Try a Press Release…

If you want to create some buzz around your work, perhaps an online press release is the ticket. Christopher Wajda has done just this on ArriveNet.

Wajda began working in illustration in 1994 for the Trenton Times, New Jersey’s largest daily newspaper producing half and three quarter page full color illustrations. Wajda also produced humorous illustration and graphic design for a wide array of businesses and organizations, from book illustration to safety and business cartoons for trade journals. Gradually, developing websites and industrial design grew from the exposure of those first illustrations leading to the opening of Bucks County’s NorthPoint Studios in 2001.
