A study came out today on the state of pay-per-click advertising in the small business sector.

First the bad news:

– only 11% of small to medium-sized enterprises that have web sites are aware of pay-per-click advertising

Now the good news:

Of PPC users, the average business:

– allocates 23% of its ad budget to PPC
– 54% expect to expand their investment
– 56% believe that pay-per-click will become an important part of their advertising
